Aum-Ma-Rit recipe (R-AMR), a traditional Thai drug, has been recorded for treatment of GI disorders for several decades. It has been clinically applied as a complementary treatment for taking care of colon cancer patients. However, there are no scientific studies to confirm its traditional use. Therefore, this study was aimed to primarily screen biological properties of RAMR on anti-oxidation as well as anticancer against HT-29 human colon cancer. The recipe with and without tamarind as an aqueous adjuvant was extracted using two types of solvents, water and ethanol. Total phenolic and total flavonoid contents of all tested extracts were evaluated. LC-MS/MS was also performed. DPPH, ABTS, FRAP, and ORAC scavenging assays were used to measure an in vitro antioxidant activity and the property of extracts on killing HT-29 human colon cancer cells was investigated using MTT assay. The result revealed that all sample extracts were composed of a huge source of phenolic and flavonoid. RAMR2.2 possessed an intense antioxidant property against DPPH (17.45 ± 0.3 µg/ml), ABTS (4.04 ±0.01 µg/ml), FRAP (6859.26 ± 0.00 µM of FeSO4 equivalent/mg of extract), ORAC (334.06 ± 18.52 µM of trolox equivalent/mg of extract), and also inhibiting lipid peroxidation (88.78 ± 1.11 %). MTT assay revealed that extracts have no cytotoxic effects on HT-29 human colon cancer cells. R-AMR had a strong ability on anti-oxidation even if it had less cytotoxic effects on HT-29. Therefore, the current study exhibited that the recipe may act as a chemopreventive agent for taking care of cancer patients.

Context Nine steaming and nine drying is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) processing method and it is widely used for processing tonifying herbs. Modern research reveals that the repeated steaming and drying process varies the composition and clinical efficacy of TCM. Objective This paper analyzes and explores the historical evolution, research progress, development strategies, and problems encountered in the nine steaming and nine drying process so as to provide a reasonable explanation for this method. Methods English and Chinese literature from 1986 to 2023 was collected from databases including Web of Science, PubMed, Elsevier, Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2020 (CP), and CNKI (Chinese). Nine steaming and nine drying, processing, TCM and pharmacological activity were used as the key words. Results Nine steaming and nine drying has undergone thousands of years of clinical practice. Under specific processing conditions of nine steaming and nine drying, the ingredients of the TCM have significant changes, which in turn altered clinical applications. Conclusions This review provides sufficient evidence to prove the rationality and scientific value of nine steaming and nine drying and puts forward a development direction for future research.

Acne is a prevalent skin condition that affects a considerable portion of the population, primarily teenagers and young adults. In most cases, it causes pimples on the face, neck, and upper back. A variety of red and flaky skin patches, as well as blackheads, whiteheads, nodules, and pustules, characterize this condition. Acne has a significant cutaneous and psychological illness burden, and its pathophysiology and current therapies are challenging. The severity of acne varies, and some people are more likely to get it because of their genes. Acne inflammation has been linked to the pus-forming bacteria Propionibacterium acnes (P. acne). In the past century, many treatment options have been available in the market that could be taken in oral or topical treatment options. Plant extracts that are useful in treating acne have recently gained popularity as a natural acne treatment alternative. This article aims to discover how antibacterial herbal medicines work against the things that cause acne vulgaris. Pathogenic reasons are high sebum production, pilosebaceous duct calcification, dysbiosis, and inflammation. As part of the treatment, synthetic drugs with significant side effects must be taken continuously throughout the year. Because of this, the safest, most effective medications are needed for therapy. Medications made from plant extracts, such as herbal ones, are a safe alternative to synthetic drugs. The herbal plants in this article are research-based, using active components of the plants that have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial properties and reduce sebum production to help treat or alleviate acne. Hence, herbal therapy aims to give people access to safe, effective, and cost- effective medicines. The current review summarizes different herbal products' roles in treating acne, where many databases were gathered and searched to find every medicinal plant with anti-acne action and provide effective treatment options for individuals who opt to consider herbal medication for acne
