Extraction of bioactive compounds in Muntingia calabura peels and identification using DI‐ESI‐MS

Abstract: Background: The purpose of the work reported in this article was to perform the drying of Muntingia calabura peels and to evaluate the performance of supercritical fluid extraction, ultrasound-assisted extraction and solid-liquid extraction. Four types of extracts were analyzed for mean values of antioxidant activity, phenolic compounds and bioactive compounds in positive and negative modes (0.1% MeOH-NH 4 OH) using direct injection in electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. Two of the lipid samples, extrac… Show more

“…[15][16][17][18][19][20][21] In addition to the solvent, other factors may influence the quality and yield of the extract, such as method, temperature and extraction time. 13,[22][23][24] High times and temperatures contribute to mass transfer and decrease viscosity by improving extraction, but may cause degradation of compounds. [25][26][27] Because of these factors, the study of mathematical models has been used for this process, aiming to predict kinetic extraction profiles and optimize the processing time.…”
