Extracting method knowledge elements from scientific literature: A rule‐based approach

Abstract: Knowledge elements are the basic unit of knowledge. Extracting knowledge elements from literatures enables granular knowledge organization and retrieval. This paper proposes a rule‐based framework for extracting method Knowledge Elements (KEs) in scientific literature aiming to improve the accuracy and complete extraction of method KEs. The method is divided into two stages: semi‐automated extraction of initial description rules of method KEs and automated derivation of additional description rules. In a preli… Show more

“…It was first proposed by Wen and Wen (2011), using the knowledge classification idea of AJIM 75,3 cognitive psychology to classify knowledge elements and divide knowledge elements into descriptive knowledge elements and process knowledge elements. Recently, knowledge elements are divided into research methods, theories, algorithms, software, numerical-based knowledge elements and fact-based knowledge elements (Wang et al, 2019;Wang and Zhang, 2020). Knowledge element extraction is a primary method of generating high-quality bases for domain knowledge (Pan et al, 2021).…”
