Extension of SEIR Compartmental Models for Constructive Lyapunov Control of COVID-19 and Analysis in Terms of Practical Stability

Abstract: Due to the worldwide outbreak of COVID-19, many strategies and models have been put forward by researchers who intend to control the current situation with the given means. In particular, compartmental models are being used to model and analyze the COVID-19 dynamics of different considered populations as Susceptible, Exposed, Infected and Recovered compartments (SEIR). This study derives control-oriented compartmental models of the pandemic, together with constructive control laws based on the Lyapunov theory.… Show more

“…At present, pharmaceutical companies and experimental centers are carrying out the development of antibiotics ( Hutchings et al, 2019 ), and 45 drugs are being tested, among which there are also categories of new modes of action. In the future, it is necessary to use computer simulation calculation, which is similar to the research of epidemic diseases ( Chen et al, 2021 ; Wieland and Mercorelli, 2021 ). For example, through the computer simulation of targeting combined with bacterial modeling, in vitro activity of antibiotic molecules, safety screening, in vitro antibacterial activity of clinical strains and other screening processes, the best bactericidal mechanism will be finally determined, and a series of antibiotics suitable for orthopedic treatment will be designed to form a new antibiotic library.…”

“…Introducing the basic concept of sliding mode control, we received positive feedback from our scientific community which accepted our communications in different conferences and journals, see [14][15][16][17][18]. In an interview of a student from Arkansas University [19], who has published a paper in [14], it emerges that the students appreciated the intuitive idea to introduce this effective and robust (and in this sense, practical) method, despite the difficulty of the courses.…”

“…This model has been widely used by scholars because the combination of the pandemic process with effective prevention decisions can be evaluated. Many studies focus on the role of vaccination in the transmission process of epidemics [21][22][23][24][25]. Some others analyze the impact of different factors of vaccination on epidemics, such as vaccination cost [26], age [27], information spread [28], and aspiration [29].…”
