Expression and significance of autophagy genes LC3, Beclin1 and MMP-2 in endometriosis

Abstract: Expression of autophagy-related proteins, microtubule-associated protein light chain 3 (LC3) and Beclin1, and matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) was investigated in serum and peritoneal fluid of patients with endometriosis (EM). The messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) expression levels of MMP-2, LC3 and Beclin1 in endometrial tissues of EM patients and correlation of these genes with EM and their significance were evaluated. The serum, peritoneal fluid and endometrial tissues of 84 patients treated in The First … Show more

“…This expression variation of BECN1 and the improvement of tibial index collected from TD affected chickens in CGA groups are consistent with previous report, in which researchers point that BECN1 is important in skeletal development and benefits the mineralization of bone [30]. Moreover, BECN1 has a relation with MMPs in many diseases, such as endometriosis [31] and tongue squamous cell carcinoma [32], but the relation between them in TD still remains vague. There are several lines of evidence which show that MMPs occupy an important part in endochondral ossification through promoting angiogenesis and remodeling extracellular matrix.…”

“…are homologs of yeast autophagy-related genes in mammalian cells and are important genes involved in autophagy regulation (Chen et al, 2016;Jacquin et al, 2017;Kang et al, 2018). Both genes have been used as important indicators for detecting autophagy activity due to their simple detection and high specificity ( Jin et al, 2016;Kwon et al, 2017;Sui et al, 2018). The western blotting results showed that Beclin-1 protein expression was significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group (Figs.…”

“…Liu, H et al claim that plasma MMP-9 directly correlates with the severity of endometriosis and could be used as a biochemical marker [ 35 ]. However, we found only a few studies in which authors investigate MMP-2 expression in endometriosis [ 36 ].…”
