Expression analysis of long non-coding A T B and its putative target in breast cancer

Abstract: Collectively, out data show downregulation of lncRNA-ATB in a significant number of breast tumor tissues compared with ANCTs and imply that lncRNA-ATB might have distinct roles in the pathogenesis of different cancers or even different subtypes of a certain cancer which should be evaluated in future studies.

“…The critical roles of lncRNAs in regulation of genes involved in DNA repair [14], induction of epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) [15,16], inhibition of tumor suppressors [17,18], control of apoptosis and cellular metabolism [19] and regulation of nuclear receptors function [20] potentiate them as molecular markers of cancer. Expression levels of several lncRNAs have been assessed in lung cancer specimens and cell lines.…”

“…Subsequently, they affect telomere biology, chromatin dynamics, genome structure organization [7], DNA repair [8] and tissue homeostasis [9]. They also participate in tumorigenesis process via different mechanisms, such as transcription repression [10], induction of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) [11], inhibition of tumor suppressors expression [12,13], over-expression of certain oncogenes [14,15], regulation of tumor-associated signal ing pathways [16] as well as modulation of tumor microenvironment [17]. Recently, a handful of lncRNAs have been shown to regulate the MAPK pathway through modulation of the expression of different proteins within this pathway.…”

“…Breast cancer is a prevalent cancer among women with a huge disease burden, which has been attributed to the lack of suitable biomarkers for the early detection of disease. 1 Despite several efforts to find diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for breast cancer, 2 4 the clinical relevance of few biomarkers has been confirmed. 5 Vitamin D receptor (VDR) signaling pathway has been regarded as a putative biomarker and therapeutic target in breast cancer.…”
