Exploring the impact of social properties on routing in cognitive radio networks

Abstract: In this paper, we study the social properties, including community, friendship, and individual selfishness of cognitive radio networks and analyze the effect of these social properties on the performance of routing protocols. We first introduce the concept of cooperation willingness considering social relations and individual selfishness. Then, we model the impact of cooperation willingness on the routing performance in cognitive radio networks. After that, we perform extensive simulations to evaluate the accu… Show more

“…In Hou, 41 the effect of social features such as friendship, selfishness, and community on the routing performance of the radio networks has been analyzed through modeling a new concept, namely, cooperation willingness which comprised from social relations and individual selfishness. The authors express that community members, friends, and nodes with lower individual selfishness should be employed as the relay nodes.…”

“…Hou at al. [32] studied the social properties, including community, friendship, and individual selfishness of cognitive radio networks and analyzed the effect of these social properties on the performance of routing protocols. Lu et al [33]considered both the primary and secondary activities in the actual accessible whitespace from a social activity perspective, and proposed a greedy spectrum aware routing algorithm for CRAHNs.…”
