Show more

“…These numbers indicate that publications about recent SVZ eruptions with a focus on eruptive mechanisms, dynamics, and impacts (deepened in sections 3.2 and 3.3) are attractive to the volcanological community. Recent studies have also contributed to the understanding of the social dimensions of volcanic risk, such as territorial vulnerabilities, knowledge gaps, capacity-building, disaster policy, decision-making, volcanic risk perceptions, conflicts, and political tensions, among others (Radovich, 2013;Larenas, 2014;Espinoza, 2015;Sandoval et al, 2015;Petit-Breuilh, 2016;Forte et al, 2022Forte et al, , 2024Alegría and Vergara-Pinto, 2024).…”

“…Nor are its participatory mechanisms sufficiently integrated to include vulnerable communities . Together, these deficiencies have been identified as of the major drivers in the reproduction and persistence of the Chilean neoliberal urban development: risk zoning does not prevent real estate expansion from pushing disadvantaged groups to live in hazardous sites (Maturana, 2017;Romero & Mendes, 2020), and the unequal distribution of risks reinforces scenarios of environmental injustice (Sandoval, 2015).…”
