Urban transformation is a prominent topic within Istanbul's urban planning agenda. Transformation process of the city falls under the scope of academicians and the related authorities; and is a focus of debate from different perspectives in daily life. In this atmosphere, centralised policies promote construction facilities as the leading economic sector, and the legislation sets the legal framework facilitating transformation processes. This transformation in Istanbul occurs in two forms; as area-based regeneration projects and single building renewal processes. Area-based regeneration projects have long been examined due to their widespread effects, however single building renewal also leads to transformation over the long term. The motivation behind this paper is to examine the single building renewal process by means of a case study-Bakirkoy, which is one of the sub-centres of Istanbul. In this context, the paper aims to construct an analytical evaluation of the regeneration process in Bakirkoy and tries to evaluate the process linking it with critiques of property-led regeneration debates worldwide. This paper covers a periodical evaluation of this process by attempting to understand the urban transformation pattern by means of a descriptive spatial analysis, and a discussion of recent policies in Bakirkoy case.

The modern globalization economy requires new approaches to optimizing the spatial format of regional economies. The international experience in developing spatial development strategies of European countries, the USA, China has been researched in this survey. The key components of spatial development, which are based on the economic, social and ecological components of the region's development, are determined in this article. The analysis of literary sources confirmed the significant role of the construction industry in shaping the spatial economy of the state and its regions. The main type of economic activity of the Poltava region economy is construction, the development of which affects other types of economic activities: mining and processing industry, agriculture, transport, etc. The forecast of the construction contribution to the gross regional product of the Poltava region enabled to identify problems and prospects for the construction development. The authors have used the production function in order to model the dependence of the Poltava region's key indicator -the gross regional product from the contribution of each type of economic activity, taking into account the available potential and their investment support. The calculations allowed to determine the growth points of the gross regional product and to construct a model that takes into account the contribution of extractive industry, construction and transport to the development of the region. As a result of redistribution of investment support of the studied industries, the optimal gross regional product was obtained. On the basis of the conducted modeling, a mechanism for regulating financial and investment support for spatial development of construction was developed.

Evaluating the Impact of Building Information Modeling (BIM) on Mass House Building Projects

This paper aims to identify and investigate the factors affecting the goals of mass-housing building projects due to the use of building information modeling (BIM). A descriptive-survey method was used to collect necessary data. Fifty respondents from the target sectors and experts in the field of modeling building information participated in self-selection survey. The tools of collecting data included three questionnaires regarding three phases of construction work: pre-construction, during construction and post-construction, which were developed based on the three indices of cost, time and quality. The face, content and construct validity of the questionnaires were confirmed after several rounds of testing. The reliability coefficient of the pre-construction, during the construction and post-construction questionnaires were 0.923, 0.917 and 0.876, respectively. The results show that the F-statistic is significant for the difference between the three groups (pre-construction, during construction and post-construction) at the 0.01 level. The results confirmed that BIM has a great influence on a project in terms of meeting time, cost and quality objectives through the whole life cycle of a construction project: during pre-construction, construction, and post-construction stages.
