Experimental studies using minimum quantity cooling (MQC) with molybdenum disulfide and graphite-based microfluids in grinding of Inconel® alloy 718

Abstract: In the paper, the results of experimental studies related with determination of the influence of the supply of a grinding fluid (GF) doped with powdered graphite and MoS 2 into the machining zone with the minimum quantity cooling (MQC) method on the course and results of the reciprocating internal cylindrical grinding of rings made from Inconel® alloy 718 have been presented. As a grinding fluid, water aerosols were used. The aerosols delivered the following into the grinding zone: water slurry MoS 2 with a co… Show more

“…They have claimed to have a better surface topography and tool wear behavior in those improved conditions. For another superalloy, Wojtewicz et al [36] improved the performance of the minimum quantity cooling by adding MoS 2 and graphite during the machining of Inconel. For the same group of materials, the performance of MQL was reported to improve when using hBN nanoparticles [37].…”

“…Ordinarily, the main disadvantage of the precision injection mold is that the mold service life was limited by the characteristics of injection mold materials. Therefore, some reinforcing additives, such as wollastonite, molybdenum disul de [39][40][41], silica sand, glass sphere, zirconia [42][43][44], silicon nitride [45][46][47], or silica sand were recommended for adding to the injection mold. In this study, the injection mold was employed in wax injection molding for manufacturing precision wax patterns.…”
