Experimental Studies on MoS2-Treated Grinding Wheel Active Surface Condition after High-Efficiency Internal Cylindrical Grinding Process of INCONEL® Alloy 718

Abstract: This work demonstrates that molybdenum disulfide can be successfully used as an impregnating substance that is introduced in the abrasive tool structure for improving its cutting properties and favorably affecting the effects of the abrasive process. For the experimental studies, a set of MoS2-treated small-sized grinding wheels with a technical designation 1-35×10×10×109A5X60L10VE0 PI-50 before and after the reciprocating internal cylindrical grinding process of rings made from INCONEL® alloy 718 was prepared… Show more

“…Using Image-Pro ® Plus 5.1 (Media Cybernetics, Inc., Rockville, MD, USA) [ 29 , 30 , 31 ] software, quantitative analysis of the SiO 2 grain clusters was carried out. During analysis, the average values of selected geometrical parameters ( An , p , l , w , F min , F max ) were calculated for n = 50 samples.…”

“…4 it can also be noticed that dry grinding has generated roughest surface due to the absence of cooling and lubrication whereas, grinding using soap water closely follows the performance of propylene glycol. Dry grinding also promotes wheel loading to a great extent and this clogging may be give rise to increase in the height of surface irregularities as pointed out by Kaplonek et al [26]. Sodium nitrite has not been found as effective as propylene glycol and soap water; however, performed better than the conventional Blasocut fluid.…”
