“…Less-corrosive and non-volatile desiccants such as salts of weak organic acids of potassium and sodium, e.g. potassium formate (HCO2K), potassium acetate (CH3CO2K), sodium formate (HCO2Na) and sodium acetate (CH3CO2Na) were investigated in these systems [51,52]. The characteristics of HCO2K solutions of low crystallization temperature, low density and viscosity, high solubility, less corrosion to metals, and less toxicity make of this desiccant a very promising candidate for LDAC technology.…”

“…The H2O/KCOOH solution is environmentally friendly, nontoxic and nonflammable; has an advantageous theoretical heat storage energy density; and costs less than half the price of the couples usually used in absorption processes (LiBr/H2O or LiCl/H2O) (Lefebvre, 2015). Its aqueous solution is also weakly alkaline and therefore noncorrosive and biodegradable (Longo and Gasparella, 2016), and has a lower density and viscosity than absorbents such as lithium bromide (Riffat et al, 1998). These advantages together with its relatively low cost make it a prime choice as the absorbent for the heat storage process.…”

“…At the same time, the relevant thermophysical properties were investigated so that these systems could be better understood, designed, and run. 4,5 In 2016, Longo and Gasparella reported the thermal conductivity and dynamic viscosity measurements of aqueous HCOOK solution with salt concentration varying from 60 to 80% in the temperature range 274.15−353.15 K. 6 Later in 2018, Longo and Fedele measured the equilibrium vapor pressure of aqueous HCOOK solution with salt concentration varying from 60 to 80% in the temperature range 278.15−348.15 K, which is typical for desiccant application. 7 Wen et al made a comprehensive study on the thermal properties of aqueous HCOOK solution, including density, thermal conductivity, dynamic viscosity, heat capacity, and vapor pressure, with concentration varying from 65 to 74% and temperature from 293.15 to 338.15 K. 8 Up to now, most of the studies about aqueous HCOOK solution focused on its application as a desiccant.…”

“…Due to its noncorrosion, biodegradability, economy, and its special thermophysical characteristics, aqueous potassium formate solution is regarded as an alternative of desiccant, absorbent, and secondary refrigerant for applications in refrigeration and air conditioning. During recent years, as the issue of energy saving was paid more and more attention, many new systems that employ aqueous HCOOK solution were proposed. At the same time, the relevant thermophysical properties were investigated so that these systems could be better understood, designed, and run. , In 2016, Longo and Gasparella reported the thermal conductivity and dynamic viscosity measurements of aqueous HCOOK solution with salt concentration varying from 60 to 80% in the temperature range 274.15–353.15 K . Later in 2018, Longo and Fedele measured the equilibrium vapor pressure of aqueous HCOOK solution with salt concentration varying from 60 to 80% in the temperature range 278.15–348.15 K, which is typical for desiccant application .…”
