Experimental Investigation of Solar Desalination System Using Evacuated Tube Collector

Abstract: An experimental investigation is carried out for softening of hard water by using solar desalination system with an evacuated tube collector. The experimental study mainly involves various parameters such as the temperature of hard and soft water, an ambient temperature of water, water flow rate, intensity of solar radiation and wind velocity. The primary purpose for an experimental study to get a maximum amount of soft water using evacuated tube collector. It is observed that in evacuated tube solar collector… Show more

“…Indeed, technological and social development urges scientific researchers to diversify the freshwater resources in order to fit with the population growth. Although the abundance of water on the earth is about 97% salty, freshwater represents only 3% of the total resources [1]. Today, due to industrial development, agricultural intensification, improvement of living conditions, and massive population growth, there is a rising demand for freshwater [2,3].…”

“…Extensive research has focused on the thermal transport of conventional (water-in-glass) evacuated tubes (CET) and has gained much significant attention in recent years (Alben and Hardcastle, 1981; Chopra et al , 2021; Kedar et al , 2019; Li et al , 2020; Singla et al , 2022; Zhao et al , 2016). Morrison et al investigated the influence of solar input, tank temperature and tube aspect ratio on the circulation flow rate of the CET through experiments and numerical simulations.…”

“…Mayur patel and krunal patel [7] mainly studies critical review of evacuated tube collector whereas Dabra et al [8] were experimentally investigated effect of tilt angle on the performance of evacuated tube solar air collector. Tilt angle indicated that no positive effect on the thermosyphon phenomenon inside the evacuated tubes whereas Kedar et al [9] mainly studies thermal analysis of an evacuated tube collector in solar desalination system. Author mainly focus on single effect boiling method for ground water solar desalination system.…”
