“…So many experiments are needed while using these methods which take more time and cost more (Sharif et al 2016). Experimental design for the modeling and optimization of produced water treatments is an important procedure to promote pollutants removal efficiency while decreasing the number of experiments considerably (Chen et al 2019;Sheikholeslami et al 2019;Shahriari & Hosseini 2020).…”

“…Nanoparticles tend to agglomerate on the surface of membrane considering their hydrophilic nature. High concentrations of TiO 2 in the Matrimid solution reduces the distance between nanoparticles due to the presence of multiple forces (ie, hydration, bridge, Van der Waals) and promoting agglomeration and reduction in surface energy 13 . A minor increase in the contact angle in the case of 5 wt.% TiO 2 may be owing to the competing effects of the aggregation of particles due to their surface energy as well as the increased surface roughness.…”

“…Their best results with 1.1 wt.% TiO 2 addition for P18E30T (PMDA‐ODA PAA/Ethanol/TiO 2 ) membrane showed water permeability of 6.0 Litm −2 hours −1 bar −1 and RB rejection of 95.7% of from an aqueous system. In another study, Shahriari et al 13 reported that by increasing the concentration of TiO 2 up to 0.98 wt.% in dope solution, both water flux and CaSO 4 rejection of PAN nanofiltration membrane enhanced from 108.8 to 131.5 LMH and from 73.5% to 83%, respectively.…”

“…In the mid-1980s, Eriksson [46] used the term NF for the new class of membranes that their characteristics fall between UF and RO [2,26,[46][47][48][49]. The pore size and molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) of NF membranes are 1-10 nm [50][51][52] and 100-2000 Da [26], respectively. The operating pressure is usually 5-35 bar [49].…”
