Studying the effect of adding a ventilation system consisting of two devices, impinging and personal ventilation, and knowing the extent of their impact on the presence of different thermal loads represented by humans, computers, and light inside a thermally isolated office room by using sandwich panels. In addition, examining the air distribution inside a room also found the required thermal comfort for two people who were represented in the form of the thermal manikin and inside them a heat source close to 80 watts, which is close to the heat emitted by the human being according to the global A share. The most important results that were obtained first when adding the personal ventilation system to the impinging ventilation showed a clear improvement in heat levels close to the thermal manikin at a level of 1.1 meters and above. Second, the homogeneity of temperatures within the space, where the difference between the main source of ventilation (impinging) and the heat at the level of 1.8 meters is relatively small, compared to the use of the impinging ventilation system alone. The aim of the research is to prove the efficiency of such a system within the Iraqi summer weather between march to June month, under the conditions studied during this project, energy savings can be achieved using this strategy. Providing respiratory and thermal comfort inside the air-conditioned space, especially in the people’s seating area at 1.1 meters, and achieving two goals of sustainable development (an industry with innovation and clean with affordable energy).

In this study many researches related to mixing and displacement ventilations in indoor and office rooms were addressed. Good ventilation is one of the most important requirements for space occupants to maintain appropriate environmental conditions, as ventilation increases thermal comfort and improves indoor air quality. However, the studies on mixing ventilation systems based on occupied density have been highlighted in the present work. Improvement of the indoor environment is economically efficient when health and productivity are taken into account. The parts of a room that a person occupies must be characterized by speed and air temperatures suitable for the occupants of the space. In the occupied zone, fresh, clean supply air must reach all its parts, and no stagnation areascan be found there. A group of field studies conducted showed, significant levels ofdissatisfaction with the indoor environment in many buildings despite satisfying the typical ventilation requirements, where there are still many complaints regarding poor indoor air quality and diseases related to poor ventilation of buildings. In enclosed spaces, ventilation is one of the essential methods used to control indoor air quality (IAQ). In buildings, ventilation has an impact on the structure and, as a result, on the people who utilize it. A deteriorated indoor environment increases sick building syndrome (SBS), respiratory illnesses, and reduces comfort and productivity.

Recent studies have shown that the optical properties of building exterior surfaces are important in terms of energy use and thermal comfort. While the majority of the studies are related to exterior surfaces, the radiation properties of interior surfaces are less thoroughly investigated. Development in the coil-coating industries has now made it possible to allocate different optical properties for both exterior and interior surfaces of steel-clad buildings. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the influence of surface radiation properties with the focus on the thermal emittance of the interior surfaces, the modeling approaches and their consequences in the context of the building energy performance and indoor thermal environment.The study consists of both numerical and experimental investigations. The experimental investigations include parallel field measurements on three similar test cabins with different interior and exterior surface radiation properties in Borlänge, Sweden, and two ice rink arenas with normal and low emissive ceiling in Luleå, Sweden. The numerical methods include comparative simulations by the use of dynamic heat flux models, Building Energy Simulation (BES), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and a coupled model for BES and CFD. Several parametric studies and thermal performance analyses were carried out in combination with the different numerical methods.The parallel field measurements on the test cabins include the air, surface and radiation temperatures and energy use during passive and active (heating and cooling) measurements. Both measurement and comparative simulation results indicate an improvement in the indoor thermal environment when the interior surfaces have low emittance. In the ice rink arenas, surface and radiation temperature measurements indicate a considerable reduction in the ceiling-to-ice radiation by the use of low emittance surfaces, in agreement with a ceiling-to-ice radiation model using schematic dynamic heat flux calculations.The measurements in the test cabins indicate that the use of low emittance surfaces can increase the vertical indoor air temperature gradients depending on the time of day and outdoor conditions. This is ii in agreement with the transient CFD simulations having the boundary condition assigned on the exterior surfaces. The sensitivity analyses have been performed under different outdoor conditions and surface thermal radiation properties. The spatially resolved simulations indicate an increase in the air and surface temperature gradients by the use of low emittance coatings. This can allow for lower air temperature at the occupied zone during the summer.The combined effect of interior and exterior reflective coatings in terms of energy use has been investigated by the use of building energy simulation for different climates and internal heat loads.
