Experiment‐design methods in innovative polymer material planning

Abstract: In the work, the design of experiments (DOE) method was used to obtain a modified epoxy resin of reduced fragility. As modifiers of commercial epoxy resin, urethane prepolymers with isocyanate terminal groups were used. Experimental points (samples of specified composition of resin prepolymer and a curing agent) were generated by the STATISTICA program module Design of Experiments using a central composition design. A study of the mechanical properties of modified resin samples was carried out for five interme… Show more

“…Several efforts have been made to identify the most important manufacturing parameters of composites with natural fibers allowing the development of models describing the dependence of composite resins on composition and then selecting the optimal epoxy resin compositions. However, results have been contradicting at times [6,23]. Moreover, while a direct comparison between synthetic and natural fiber composites is possible (via a modified rule of mixtures) [24], it is sometimes hard to conduct due to fundamental geometry differences (volume of fibers, the density of preforms, adaptability of/to the particular manufacturing process, etc.)…”

“…Estimates of the regression coefficients β of polynomial models can be found on the basis of the experiment. According to the modern mathematical theory of experiment, there are statistical and cybernetic approaches and their combinations for the study of complex systems in the methods of mathematical planning of an experiment, which are currently quite well developed for various branches of science and technology, including building materials technology [6][7][8]. An active multifactorial experiment has several undeniable advantages to single-factor ones.…”
