The Experiences in Close Relationships-Relationship Structures questionnaire (ECR-RS) is one of the most recent measures of adult attachment. This instrument provides a contextual assessment of attachment-related anxiety and avoidance by measuring these dimensions in various close relationships (mother, father, partner, friend). To further explore its psychometric properties and cross-cultural adequacy, this study presents the validation of the ECR-RS in a sample of Portuguese community individuals (N = 236). The Portuguese version showed adequate reliability and construct validity. The original 2-factor structure was confirmed through confirmatory factor analysis. The ECR-RS is a psychometrically robust measure of attachment, representing an important advance in the measurement of adult attachment.

ResumoA infidelidade nas relações de casal é um acontecimento frequente e com consequências potencialmente gravosas para os envolvidos. Apesar desta importância, existe uma escassez de instrumentos para a sua avaliação psicológica, que importa minorar. Nesse sentido, foi elaborado o Questionário Multidimensional de Comportamentos Extrarrelacionais (QMCER), composto por 6 secções. Análises em componentes principais (N≥156) sustentam a ideia de que o QMCER permite avaliar a ocorrência de 3 tipos de comportamentos extrarrelacionais (envolvimento sexual, envolvimento afetivo e desejo sexual), 7 dimensões associadas às caraterísticas da infidelidade, suas motivações e consequências da mesma, e 4 fatores ligados à motivação para a fidelidade, que se organizam de forma semelhante à postulada pela teoria da autodeterminação. Os valores do coeficiente alfa de Cronbach são geralmente adequados, com exceção de algumas escalas que requerem desenvolvimento futuro. As correlações entre as escalas e com outros instrumentos fornecem dados positivos quanto à validade do QMCER.Palavras-chave: infidelidade, conjugalidade, psicologia evolutiva, vinculação, género AbstractInfidelity in couple relationships is a common event, and one with potentially serious consequences for those involved. In spite of its importance, there is a scarcity of instruments for its psychological evaluation, which it would be important to compensate for. For that purpose, the Questionário Multidimensional de Comportamentos Extrarrelacionais (QMCER; Multidimensional Extra-Relational Behaviors Questionnaire) has been developed, and is composed of 6 sections. Principal components analyses (N≥156) sustain the idea that the QMCER can evaluate the occurrence of 3 types of extra-relational behaviors (sexual involvement, affective involvement and sexual desire), 7 dimensions associated with infidelity characteristics, motivations, and consequences, and 4 factors related to motivations for fidelity, which are organized in a way compatible with self-determination theory. Cronbach alpha values are generally adequate, with the exception of a few scales that need further development. Attachment, Emotional Regulation and Perception of the Institutional Environment in Adolescents in Residential Care Context

There is a scarcity of studies that relate attachment, emotional regulation difficulties and perception of the institutional environment among adolescents in a residential care context (RCC). Research has suggested the negative effects of RCC on the physical, cognitive and emotional development of children. Nonetheless, there appears to be significant variability in the quality of protection and care offered in RCC, with important implications for the development of children and adolescents. Establishing affective relationships can make a difference in the adaptation and perception of the institutional environment, as well as in the capacity for emotional regulation, among this population. The aim of the present study is to analyze the predictive role of adolescents' attachment to significant figures of affection in the perception of the institutional environment, by testing the moderating effect of emotional regulation difficulties on the previous association. The sample consisted of 296 adolescents, between the ages of 12 and 18 years (M = 15.30; SD = 1.76). The instruments used for data collection were the Experiences in Close Relationships (ECR), the Family Environment Scale (FES), the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS) and a sociodemographic questionnaire. The results suggest that attachment dimensions are not associated with the perception of the institutional environment. However, there is a moderating effect of emotional regulation difficulties on the previous association. The results will be discussed according to attachment theory, given its importance for the perception of the institutional environment and for emotional regulation difficulties, among adolescents in residential care contexts.
