Abstract: Objective: In adults hospitalized with an acute or chronic respiratory condition, to determine what has been reported regarding exercise programmes in terms of content, tolerability, evaluation and adverse events. Data sources: A systematic search was conducted of electronic databases (PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, PEDro, The Cochrane Library), trial registries and conference abstracts (Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand Annual Scientific Meeting, the European Respiratory Society Congress, the American Th… Show more

“…[10][11][12] El ejercicio cuidadosamente prescrito es una parte esencial de la rehabilitación. 13,14 Este estudio propone un programa de 12 sesiones de rehabilitación, tres veces por semana, en un grupo heterogéneo de pacientes que presentaron infección por COVID-19 en grados variables, y expone los resultados con base en la medida de la percepción de la fatiga, calidad de sueño y mejora en la calidad de vida, como parámetros para registrar la respuesta al tratamiento en los pacientes estudiados.…”

“…The safety of initiating exercise in patients early during hospitalization is an area of interest. In a newly published systematic review of patients hospitalized with acute respiratory conditions, a total of 17 adverse events were reported across 1146 participants who completed a total of ~ 7420 exercise sessions [ 33 ]. Only 1 serious adverse event occurred and resolved spontaneously in the group performing low-intensity exercise [ 34 ].…”

“…Only 1 serious adverse event occurred and resolved spontaneously in the group performing low-intensity exercise [ 34 ]. Therefore, there is no clear relationship between the prescription of exercise intensity and adverse events [ 33 ]. However, to ensure that our exercise interventions are delivered safely, oxygen saturation and heart rate are continuously monitored during exercise by pulse oximetry (PalmSAT 2500 Series Pulse Oximeter, NONIN Medical Inc., Minneapolis, USA).…”
