Introducción: la rehabilitación física postCOVID-19 es progresiva, de duración variable y se adapta a las necesidades individuales, comorbilidades y capacidad física de cada persona. Es difícil estandarizar la frecuencia, intensidad y duración por edad, comorbilidades y deterioro físico variable. Objetivo: analizar la respuesta a un programa de 12 sesiones de tratamiento en un grupo heterogéneo de pacientes. Material y métodos: veinticinco pacientes de 18 a 85 años, tres de ellos con síndrome de Down que presentaron grados variables de infección por COVID-19. El tratamiento incluyó ejercicios respiratorios, actividad física moderada y electroterapia en región dorsal; evaluando fatiga, calidad del sueño, prueba sentado-parado y calidad de vida como parámetros para medir los resultados. Resultados: el tratamiento es efectivo (p ≤ 0.05), se pudo realizar incluso por pacientes con síndrome de Down. Conclusiones: estudios previos muestran buenos resultados con diversos programas de rehabilitación, pero ninguno incluyó a pacientes con síndrome de Down, ni han evaluado la respuesta a la electroterapia en la región dorsal para mejorar el dolor y la contractura muscular, que puede presentarse tras la infección por COVID-19, debido al reposo prolongado o la tos intensa durante el padecimiento.
