In the current study, the aim is to determine the leisure involvement and life satisfaction levels of recreational skiers and to compare these factors with various demographics. The study group consists of 243 recreational skiers (Mage=32.71 ± 10.51). “Leisure Involvement Scale-LIS” and “Life Satisfaction Scale-LSS” were used to collect data. Besides the descriptive statistics, t-test, MANOVA, ANOVA and Pearson Correlation analysis were used to test the hypothesis. The results indicated that “gender” and “participation in skiing event” variables do not have a statistically significant differences in terms of LSS. On the other hand, although “gender” variable does not differ in terms of LIS and its subscales, “participation in skiing event” variable has a significant difference in terms of the subscales of LIS. The significant difference was due to those who participated in skiing events "often" against those who engaged in skiing events "sometimes" and "rarely." In addition, there is a statistically significant positive and low-level correlation between the total mean scores of LSS and the subscales of LIS. As a conclusion, it can be said that as the frequency of participation in the recreational skiing increases, leisure involvement and life satisfaction levels of the participants will increase.

PurposeThis study aimed to identify subgroups of esports players based on their gaming behavior patterns across game genres and compare self-efficacy, social efficacy, loneliness and three dimensions of quality of life between these subgroups.Design/methodology/approach324 participants were recruited from prolific academic to complete an online survey. We employed latent profile analysis (LPA) to identify subgroups of esports players based on their behavioral patterns across genres. Additionally, a one-way multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) was conducted to test the association between cluster memberships and development and well-being outcomes, controlling for age and gender as covariates.FindingsLPA analysis identified five clusters (two single-genre gamer groups, two multigenre gamer groups and one all-genre gamer group). Univariate analyses indicated the significant effect of the clusters on social efficacy, psychological health and social health. Pairwise comparisons highlighted the salience of the physical enactment-plus-sport simulation genre group in these outcomes.Originality/valueThis study contributes to the understanding of the development and well-being benefits experienced by various esports consumers, as well as the role of specific gameplay in facilitating targeted outcomes among these consumer groups.
