The study examined the role of socio-demographical and psychological factors in taking littering prevention actions among males (770, 56.6%) and females (590, 43.4%) residents of Ibadan, Nigeria. Their age ranged from 18 to 65 years. A questionnaire is the medium of data collection. Results indicated that altruism, environmental self-efficacy, locus of control, self-concept and age accounted for variations in taking littering prevention actions. This indicated that high levels of altruism, environmental self-efficacy, self-concept and internal locus of control are motivational resources in taking littering prevention actions. Therefore, stakeholders who have littering prevention as their priority should incorporate this information when they design interventions to promote taking littering prevention actions. Psychologists should be involved in designing such procedures to ensure the inclusion of behavioral issues. An integrated approach is the most efficient tool of promoting taking littering prevention actions in among residents of Ibadan.

Previous research has suggested that attitudes about environmental issues are rooted in the degree to which people believe that they are part of the natural environment. Researchers have distinguished between egoistic concerns, which focus on self, and biospheric concerns, which focus on all living things. In the current paper, we argue that the type of concerns a person develops about environmental issues is associated with the extent to which the individual believes that s/he is part of nature. We argue that this connection is implicit, and exists outside of conscious awareness. Two studies are reported on the relationship between implicit connections with nature and explicit environmental concerns, and on the cognitive strategies associated with egoistic and biospheric attitudes. Study 1 reports the results from a modified Implicit Association Test (IAT) designed to measure the degree to which people associate themselves with nature. Results showed a moderate positive relationship between biospheric concerns and implicit connections with nature, and a negative relationship between implicit connections with nature and egoistic concerns. Study 2 replicated this basic effect, and also examined the test-retest (immediate, 1 week, and 4 weeks) reliability of the explicit and implicit measures. Results are interpreted within a broad model of environmental inclusion.

Zařazení kooperativních dovedností do propojujících témat odráží spíše domácí tradici environmentální výchovy, naopak rozlišování mezi "přesvědčením o vlastním vlivu" a "osobní odpovědností" je poplatné pracím vycházejícím z modelu REB (Hungerford & Volk, 1990;Marcinkowski, 1997;Hwang, Kim & Jeng, 2000;. Pracovní skupina se tedy v rámci možných variant přiklonila k jedné, která má na jedné straně oporu v literatuře, na druhé je ve své podobě jedinečná a specificky "česká".…”

Abstrakt:Článek prezentuje strukturu a teoretická východiska nově přijatého kurikulárního dokumentu "Doporučené očekávané výstupy pro základní vzdělávání". Text analyzuje jednotlivé části dokumentu, upozorňuje na změny, které dokument přináší pro současnou praxi, i na rozhodnutí, která pracovní skupina autorů při jeho vytváření přijala. Dokument definuje cíle a obsah environmentální výchovy pro oblast základních škol. Podle něj je obecným cílem oboru odpovědné environmentální chování. K dosažení tohoto cíle se mají učitelé zaměřit na pět klíčových a pět propojujících témat. Klíčovými tématy jsou senzitivita, ekologické principy, environmentální problémy a konflikty, výzkumné dovednosti a akční strategie. Propojujícími tématy pak vztah k místu, environmentální postoje a hodnoty, kooperativní dovednosti, přesvědčení o vlastním vlivu a osobní odpovědnost. Článek popisuje teoretická východiska každého tématu, uvádí příklady doporučených očekávaných výstupů a doporučených strategií, které kriticky komentuje.
