“…Person fit was also examined using infit and outfit MnSq, where an infit or an outfit MnSq value > 1.4 indicates a misfit respondent. Using the person fit statistics, the person response validity can be examined for logical hierarchical ordering [ 27 ]. Fisher et al [ 28 ] suggested that the person response validity of children’s school task-related measures could be established when < 5% of children is misfit.…”

“…Observations and scoring were done while children performed the selected activities for 20-30 minutes at their preschools. Evidence for the content, construct, discriminant and convergent validity of ACHS were demonstrated, indicating that this assessment can be used with confidence to measure children's real-life hand skill performance 31,33,34 . ACHS is also reported to have acceptable intra-rater, inter-rater and test-retest reliability to quantify children's hand skills use 32,33 .…”

A series of activities that require hand use, namely flossing, brushing teeth and rinsing mouth by holding a cup, form or contribute to a larger goal of managing one's oral hygiene and is thus considered as children's participation in life situations in the role of self‐carer.…”

“…In their view, participation is the extent of engagement in the full range of activities that accomplish the larger goals (Coster & Khetani 2008). By using this conceptual division to hand use assessment contexts, putting toothpaste on a toothbrush and brushing one's teeth is one example of simple or short sequence of functional actions that are the focus of assessment at the activity level such as the ABILHAND-Kids (Arnould et al 2004) and the Assessment of Children's Hand Skills (Chien et al 2012). A series of activities that require hand use, namely flossing, brushing teeth and rinsing mouth by holding a cup, form or contribute to a larger goal of managing one's oral hygiene and is thus considered as children's participation in life situations in the role of self-carer.…”
