The Co(II) complex of [Co(bpy) 2 (NO 3 )]Cl¢3H 2 O, bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, has been synthesised by the solution crystallisation method. The boron nitride nanosheets/silver nanoparticles/[Co(bpy) 2 (NO 3 )] Cl¢3H 2 O nanoaggregate was prepared in order to better analyse the adsorption orientation of the cobalt complex on the surface of silver nanoparticles. The result of the surface-enhanced Raman scattering measurement indicates that the molecular plane of the cobalt complex presents a tilted orientation with respect to the surface of silver nanoparticles. The luminescence property of [Co(bpy) 2 (NO 3 )] + two-dimensional arrangements within the layers of zirconium phosphate (ZrP) was also investigated. Steady-state luminescence spectra of the [Co(bpy) 2 (NO 3 )] + -exchanged ZrP materials show an increase in the luminescence intensity.

A thermogravimetric analyzer and a Fouriertransform infrared (FTIR) spectrometer were combined and redesigned for investigations with corrosive and condensable reactive gases. The standard gas inlet and outlet of the thermogravimetric analyzer were changed in order to heat the gas tubes, which are lead through the flanges, and avoid condensation in these parts of the system. Furthermore, all tubes upstream and downstream of the thermogravimetric analyzer were trace heated up to 180°C. The gas measuring cell of the FTIR spectrometer was designed such that an optimum compromise between the small flow rates through the thermogravimetric analyzer and a short residence time of the gases in the gas measuring cell could be achieved. The gas supply allows the dosage of different gas compositions containing nitrogen, oxygen, water, NH 3 , and NO 2 , for example. The system was validated by analyzing the composition of a diesel particulate matter (PM) sample with a temperature-programmed desorption followed by oxidation (TPD/O) experiment, which showed good agreement with the established analysis methods. The reactivity of the PM sample was investigated by temperature-programmed oxidation (TPO) experiments with different reactive gas mixtures of oxygen, water, and NO 2 in nitrogen. By adding NO 2 , the soot oxidation started at lower temperatures and the addition of water lead to a shift of the maxima of the carbon oxidation rates to lower temperatures. The ratio of formed CO 2 and CO was shifted to higher values by the addition of NO 2 and water whereby the influence of water was much more pronounced.

Summary Expanded graphite (EG) has shown excellent performances in compression resilience, thermal conductivity, and adsorption ability. EG can adsorb liquid phase change materials (PCMs) mainly because of capillary action; however, EG is hydrophobic, which makes it less compatible with hydrated salts. Herein, hydrophilic EG (HEG) was prepared with Triton X‐100 (TX‐100) as surface modifier. The HEG–magnesium nitrate hexahydrate (HEG‐MNH) composite as a PCM was investigated for thermal energy storage (TES) to understand the effect of hydrophilic modification on thermophysical properties. The powder‐state HEG is added into MNH to prepare HEG‐MNH composite PCM, which contains 1.71 wt% of TX‐100, 7.29 wt% of EG, and 91.00 wt% of MNH by control variable method. The melting point and latent heat of HEG‐MNH composite PCM were 89.05°C and 137.28 J/g, respectively. The endothermic enthalpy change of HEG‐MNH composite PCM only decreased by 0.90%, along with the exothermic values of HEG‐MNH composite that increased by 3.80% after 100 cycles. The thermal conductivity is higher 5.17 times than that of the pure MNH. Our work suggests that the HEG‐MNH composite PCM has a great potential to be used as a PCM for TES.
