Evolution of spatial–temporal characteristics and financial development as an influencing factor of green ecology

Abstract: This study aims to determine the impact of financial development on green ecology to promote cleaner production. Particularly, it estimates the evolution of characteristics of the green-ecology of 37 cities from the Yangtze River Delta and determines the impact of financial development on green-ecology using the projection pursuit model, Moran's Index, and regression model. Results found that the green-ecology index showed an upward trend and the index in the East was higher than the West. The green ecology an… Show more

“…Economic growth is usually measured with the traditional GDP which is defined as an increase in per head level of the production of goods and services (Ahmed et al, 2021); during this production process, different resources such as mineral, water, and other such resources are extracted from the environment which deteriorate the environmental quality (EQ) (Ncube et al, 2021). Consequently, deterioration in EQ negatively impacts production systems (Elahi et al, 2017;Elahi et al, 2019c;Zheng et al, 2020;Peng et al, 2022). This deterioration in EQ is a major warning to an economy's sustainable development (Khan et al, 2021), as it falls out with serious economic consequences like poverty, inequality, food-shortage, etc.…”

“…The projection pursuit model is a multi-dimensional data processing method that projects high-dimensional data to one-dimensional space and retains the most data information by finding the optimal projection direction [ 57 ]. Compared with traditional evaluation methods, such as the analytic hierarchy process and the Delphi method, the projection pursuit model has the advantage of avoiding artificial subjective factors and processing nonlinear distributed data [ 58 , 59 , 60 ]. Here, projection pursuit model based on a genetic algorithm is used to evaluate the RECC and SCDI.…”

“…The regression coefficient of AI is still positive and significant, which is consistent with the benchmark regression results, indicating that the research hypothesis H1 still holds. Considering that few variables can be selected to replace the level of corporate governance and the level of artificial intelligence application, to further test the robustness, this paper chooses to replace the research sample data range and perform regression analysis on the variable of artificial intelligence application level with a lag of one period (Peng et al, 2021b;Wang et al, 2021;Zhao et al, 2021;Zhong et al, 2021).…”
