Evidence for aπjunction inNb/Ni0.96V0.04/Nbtrilayers revealed by superfluid

Abstract: We report measurements of the superfluid density, λ −2 (T ), in ferromagnet-on-superconductor (F/S) bilayers and S/F/S' trilayers comprising Nb with Ni, Py, CoFe, and NiV ferromagnets. Bilayers provide information about F/S interface transparency and the T dependence of λ −2 that inform interpretation of trilayer data. The Houzet-Meyer (H-M) theory accounts well for the measured dependence of λ −2 (0) and T c of F/S bilayers on thickness of F layer, d F , except that λ −2 (0) is slightly under expectations for… Show more

“…Remarkably, the emergence of the in-plane FFLO phase should reveal itself through the vanishing Meissner response of the sample on the external parallel magnetic field. Experimentally, such feature can be detected, e.g., in the surface inductance measurements on the basis of the two-coil technique [25,26] which has been recently applied for the study of the screening properties of the S/F bilayers [27,28]. The similar instabilities of the uniform state has been predicted also for a ferromagnetic cylinder covered by the superconducting shell [29][30][31] as well as for the planar superconductor / normal metal (N) structures under non-equilibrium quasiparticle distribution [32,33].…”

“…3) are accompanied by jumps in Λ/Λ T due to qualitative changes in the radial structure and symmetry of the pair wave-functions and the singlet/triplet correlations distributions in the S/F structure 71 . Such abrupt changes of screening proper-ties of S/F cylinder due to orbital modes switchings look similar to the 0 − π transition in S/F/S trilayer [72][73][74] . Negative values of Λ correspond to the total paramagnetic response of the hybrid structure.…”

“…In principle, the discrepancy between distributions of the gap order parameter in these states results in the different response to the applied magnetic field. This was revealed recently, for instance, by superfluiddensity measurements 16 .…”
