ZusammenfassungDer vorliegende Beitrag nimmt die Herausbildung der Konstellation sächsischer Bible belt als Prozess diskursiver Aushandlung zwischen konkurrierenden religiösen Expert*innen und Lai*innenwissensbeständen seit dem 19. Jahrhundert in den Blick. Diese Konstellation wird unter dem Aspekt der Transformationen des Populären und somit als Konfliktgeschichte um Beachtung und Deutungshoheiten seit um 1800 untersucht. Dabei geht es um den Anspruch auf und die Zuschreibung von Expertise und somit um Rollen und Ressourcen, Legitimation und Geltung im Bereich des Religiösen. Es werden drei unterschiedliche Typen des Verhältnisses von Expert*innen und Lai*innenwissensbeständen, die sich in der Sächsischen Landeskirche herausbildeten und mehr oder weniger dauerhaft etablierten, identifiziert: ein komplementärer, ein interferierender und ein konkurrierend-abgrenzender Typ.
