Evaluation of Wind Resources and the Effect of Market Price Components on Wind-Farm Income: A Case Study of Ørland in Norway

Abstract: This paper aims to present a detailed analysis of the performance of a wind-farm using the wind turbine power measurement standard IEC61400-12-1 (2017). Ten minutes averaged wind data are obtained from LIDAR over the period of twelve months and it is compared with the 38 years’ data from weather station with the objective of determining the wind resources at the wind-farm. The performance of one of the wind turbines located in the wind-farm is assessed by comparing the wind power potential of the wind turbine … Show more

“…Once a wind farm is installed, further work can be done in order to compare the calculated values and the real power production and behavior of the turbines. This type of study has been done in other small wind farms, such as the analysis performed in a case study of Ørland in Norway [24].…”

“…The wind turbine is attached to the jacket support structure used in phase 1 of the OC4 project. The material properties, node coordinates, and member properties are the same as in the study [4]. The four levels of X-braces are connected with the four-legged jacket, and piles have a penetration depth of 45 m. The jacket has a total height of 70.15 m, including the TP (transition piece), which is 4 m high.…”

“…The complexity and computationally expensive nature of time-series fatigue analysis force the researchers to make simplified assumptions, which impacts the accuracy of modern-day research. A complete wind resource analysis was done in [4] to describe the method of reference site selection. The study also highlighted the method of correlating short-term data with multi-year historical data to extract the environmental data for any research.…”

“…In recent years, many scholars have devoted themselves to studying the status of offshore wind energy resources in various countries, and conducted evaluation from multiple layers. The hottest research is the construction technology of wind power 3‐20 such as tower structure, unit aerodynamic performance, wind turbine blade optimization design. Ma et al 3 established the time domain coupling calculation model of floating wind turbine, and proposed the wind turbine blade combination optimization design method.…”
