Evaluation of Vitamin D (25OHD), Bone Alkaline Phosphatase (BALP), Serum Calcium, Serum Phosphorus, Ionized Calcium in Patients with Mandibular Third Molar Impaction. An Observational Study

Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the levels of vitamin D (25OHD) and other bone biomarkers in patients with third molar impaction (TMI). Thirty males and 30 females with unilateral or bilateral impacted mandibular third molar, and 15 males and 15 females as a control group (CG) were recruited. Rx-OPT was used to evaluate dental position and Pederson index to measure the difficulty of the intervention. Bone biomarkers were measured through blood venous sample in TMI group and CG. Mann-Whitney test, Pearson… Show more

“…The high mortality of ICU patients due to numerous risk factors, of which the disorders of electrolytes, including potassium, sodium, and calcium, is one of the most important risk factors (12). Previous studies have explored the association between serum calcium and mortality in different types of diseases (8,9,(13)(14)(15)(16)(17)(18)(19)(20). In Chinese patients with acute pulmonary thromboembolism, hypocalcemia (total serum calcium) is a risk factor of mid-and long-term mortalities (8).…”

“…Topical nasal rinses take advantage of this secretory lining in multiple ways. First, nasal rinses physically disrupt the viscous surface layer, removing the mucus and its associated particulate matter [16], [17], [18], [19], [20], [21], [22]. In addition, the presence of nasal saline is hypothesized to function by thinning mucous, improving mucociliary clearance, decreasing edema, and reducing antigen load in the nasal and sinus cavities.…”

“…The success rates of dental implants, according to the latest systematic reviews, are around 97.5% with a three-year follow-up period [1]. Nevertheless, there are a number of factors that can negatively affect the short and long-term survival of implants, including smoking [2,3], poor oral hygiene [4], periodontal disease [5,6], and local/systemic diseases such as diabetes [7,8] or osteoporosis [9][10][11].…”
