Evaluation of the wound healing effect of neomycin-silver nano-composite gel in rats

Abstract: Objectives: Both nano silver and neomycin have wound healing properties. Silver nanoparticles have been used as main compounds for therapeutic drug delivery systems against various ailments. The present study aimed to prepare a neomycin silver nano-composite gel easily, rapidly, and cheaply method to improve wound healing. Methods: Forty-five Wistar rats (150–200 g) divided into nine groups: wound untreated, wound fusidic acid treated, wound neomycin treated, three groups with wound and neomycin silver nano-co… Show more

“…Authors believe that for this reason in the nearest future, most severe infected wounds will be treated with combined therapy of AgNPs and standard antibiotics. The effectiveness of such therapies has been demonstrated in the studies that explored dressings combining silver with colistin or neomycin [ 68 , 69 ]. Several natura or synthetic biomaterials containing silver nanoparticles have already presented promising results in pre-clinical and clinical trials.…”

“…To reduce the side effects of silver and other antimicrobial substances, scientists are trying to combine them with substances that have a synergistic effect. Banna et al [ 68 ] presented results of the study in which a gel containing both neomycin and AgNPs was tested in the treatment of wounds in rats. 45 rats were divided in such a way that some of the animals were treated with a gel containing only Ag+, some only with neomycin, and some with a dressing containing both neomycin and AgNPs.…”

“…Purified water was employed as the mobile phase in a mixed-mode polar embedded column for the separation of polar compounds (nucleosides, nucleic bases, and purine alkaloids). The long alkyl chains that make up this stationary phase's reverse phase and the ion-exchange functional groups connected to the chain's terminal end are what give this column its ion-exchange and reversed phase properties [34]. This type of stationary phase could expand the options for component separation with various polarities, making WRP-LC a more appealing strategy for the development of green chromatographic methods.…”
