The paper describes the method of investigations of exhaust emissions from a combustion engine under operation classified in terms of its dynamic states. In this paper, the engine operating states are determined through the vehicle driving under actual traffic conditions in the RDE (Real Driving Emissions) test. Based on the recorded tracings of the vehicle velocity, the engine states were classified as static for the acceleration of the absolute value lower than the adopted classification limit. Besides, the authors analyzed the engine operating states for the positive as well as negative acceleration. For the adopted engine operating states, zero-dimensional characteristics of the emission intensity for individual exhaust components were determined (average value, coefficient of variation). The influence of the analyzed operating states on the emission of individual exhaust components was assessed. The greatest increase in the intensity of the emission of nitrogen oxides was observed for the positive vehicle acceleration model and the lowest (also for the nitrogen oxides) for the negative vehicle acceleration. On average, the greatest increase in the emission intensity of pollutants and the intensity of particle number occurred for the dynamic states of the engine corresponding to positive acceleration. The conclusions from the performed investigations entitle the authors to propose a greater allowance for the exhaust emission-related criteria in the engine control algorithms.

The article presents the results of analysis of operational parameters of piston engine CA 912 ULT which is a propulsion system of ultralight gyroplane Tercel produced by Aviation Artur Trendak. Research was conducted under normal operating conditions of the autogyro and data was collected from 20 independent tests including a total of 28 flight hours, divided into training flights and competition flights.Engine speed, manifold air pressure and temperature, fuel pressure, injection time, and head temperature were recorded at 9 Hz during each flight. Collective results were presented to show the statistical analyses of the individual parameters by determining the mean values, standard deviations and histograms of the distribution of these parameters. Histograms of operating points defined by both engine speed and manifold air pressure were also determined. Analyses of the engine dynamics as a distribution of the rate of change of the engine rotational speed were also carried out. It was shown that the engine operating points are concentrated mainly in the range of idle and power above 50% of nominal power. The most frequent range is 70-80% of nominal power. It was also shown that the dynamics of engine work in real operating conditions is small. It was also shown that the way of use significantly influences the distribution of operating points. During training flights, an increase in the number of take-offs and landings causes an increase in the amount of engine work at take-off and nominal power and at idle.

The article presents the numerical analysis of a single-cylinder gasoline engine with indirect injection and spark ignition. The goal is to recognize and analyze gas flow through inlet and outlet valves and channels. These data were obtained from the simulation of a four-cycle engine cycle without combustion of the fuel-air mixture. The simulation was carried out in ANSYS, using a dedicated IC Engine module. After the simulation, the result was analyzed on the cross-sectional plane of both the valves and the combustion chamber. This method provided the necessary and concise representation of the flow characteristics. Five separate stages are presented - two describing the different displacement of the valve for each inlet and exhaust stroke and one representing the phenomenon of overlapping. The type of flow, its speed and tendency to create turbulence are described
