“…Methomyl‐, carbaryl‐, metalaxyl‐, and pendimethalin‐treated (1000 μM) HUVECs showed 24.33‐, 28.72‐, 32.44‐, and 28.11‐fold greater OTM values, as compared with the untreated and DMSO 0.1% controls, which showed OTM values of 0.987 and 0.854, respectively. The comet assay data are in accordance with the previous reports confirming the DNA damaging ability in dams of pregnant rats exposed to methomyl (0.02 mg/kg/day) (do Nascimento Marinho et al, 2019); human lymphocytes treated with 200 μM of pendimethalin (Ansari et al, 2018); DNA damage in human sperm environmentally exposed to carbaryl (Meeker et al, 2004); and chromosomal DNA damage in metalaxyl‐treated human lymphocytes (Demsia et al, 2007). It has been implicated that oxidative stress in mitochondria can inflict oxidative stress on nucleus, thereby introducing DNA strand breaks (Nadalutti et al, 2020).…”

“…CD‐1 mice exposed to methomyl showed reduction in their antioxidant enzymes level (El‐Demerdash et al, 2013). Furthermore, methomyl demonstrated its high toxicity after its conversion into acetonitrile then to cyanide by the liver microsomal detoxification systems (do Nascimento Marinho et al, 2019).…”

“…Similarly, CP has also been shown to cause genotoxic effects through DNA damage and cell apoptosis 40,44 . The improvement in live/dead ratio following pretreatment or posttreatment with ML suggests that the antioxidant agent counteracted the pesticide-induced toxicity possibly by protecting against ROS-induced DNA damage and protein oxidation 45 coupled with its ability to decrease the level of certain pro-apoptotic enzymes like caspases 3 and 9 46 and its ability to protects against genotoxic damages 47 , which eventually reduced prenatal and neonatal mortality.…”
