Fading, interference, and collisions cause unpredictable data loss in a wireless channel. In the recent past, the use of polar codes for error detection and correction scaled downed the data error rate considerably. With the introduction of 5G mobile network, minimizing the data loss and enhancing the performance becomes imperative. Here, the use of polar codes based OFDM-HARQ mechanism with CRC is simulated and implemented. The proposed technique was tested for various fading channels. A bundling mechanism is used to attain the optimal number of retransmissions to accomplish better frame dropping ratio and throughput. It has been observed that the bit error rate of the proposed system has improved by optimizing Eb/No and bandwidth. At this optimum setting, the bit error rate has been enhanced by 25%. At the same time, the system optimizes retransmission count to a value of three, which improves frame error rate at the desirable bit error rate of 10 À6 . Further, the use of the proposed optimized polar code reduces complexity computations from one third to one fifth as compared to conventional system modeling using turbo codes. An enhancement in frame dropping ratio by 8% to 12% as well as throughput by 10.23% to 14.33% is achieved. The work carried on the hardware system shows that data loss in the OFDM-HARQ communication system can be minimized by improving the bit error rate and throughput required for device-to-device communication in the 5G network.

The Vehicular ad-Hoc Network (VANET) is envisioned to ensure wireless transmission with ultra-high reliability. In the presence of fading and mobility of vehicles, error-free information between Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) requires extensive investigation. The current literature lacks in designing an ultra-reliable comprehensive tractable model for VANET using millimeter wave. Ultra-reliable communication is needed to support autonomous vehicular communication. This article aims to provide a comprehensive tractable model for VANET over millimeter waves using Space-Time-Block-Coding (STBC) concatenated with Reed Solomon (RS) coding. The designed model provides the fastest way of designing and analyzing VANET networks on 60 GHz. By using the derived BER expressions and Reed Solomon coded doppler expression ultra-reliable vehicular networks can be build meeting the demands of massive growing volume of traffic. The performance of the model is compared with previous BER computational techniques and existing VANET communication systems, i.e., IEEE 802.11bd and 3rd generation partnership project vehicle to everything (3GPP V2X). The findings show that our proposed approach outperforms IEEE 802.11bd and the results are comparable with V2X NR. Packet Error Rate (PER), Packet Reception Ratio (PRR) and throughput are used as performance metrics. We have also evaluated the model on higher velocities of vehicles. Further, the simulation and numerical findings show that the proposed system surpass the existing BER results comprising of various modulation and coding techniques. The simulation results are verified by the numerical results there-by, showing the accuracy of our derived expressions.

The MIMO based CO-OFDM FSO communication system is emerging as a promising approach to meet the future bandwidth requirements for seamless communication. The atmosphere being the propagation medium is a major hindrance in wide-scale acceptability of FSO technology. For seamless and error-free transmission and reception of data, a novel concept of MIMO integrated with RS code is proposed in this paper. The system performance of an RS 64 (RS (255,127)) coded MIMO-based CO-OFDM FSO communication link was investigated using BPSK, QPSK and 16-QAM under the combined effects of geometric losses, path losses and atmospheric attenuations at a hitherto un-investigated data rate of 40 Gbps and a link distance of 5 km. The modified gamma-gamma distribution was used for modeling a moderately turbulent channel. With link length varying over a range of 1 to 5 km, error correction was maximum in 16-QAM as compared to BPSK and QPSK, with 150 to 167 corrected errors. In terms of PAPR, PSK was more apt than QAM, but with a compromise in BER. The geometric losses were reduced with link length due to an increase in error correction capability for all three modulation cases, with the least losses occurring in 16-QAM. At the target bit error rate (BER), the signal to noise ratio (SNR) required for BPSK and QPSK was higher by 3.98 dB and 6.14 dB compared to 16-QAM.
