Aim: The study aims to ensure that people receive professional and permanent preventive healthcare services in the light of current technology in the case of cancer, increase the awareness about cancer screenings, and activate effectively informed decision-making mechanisms. Methods: We developed a mobile application contains basic information about cancers, screening methods and periods. Individuals downloaded the application, received reminders to have their examinations according to the national cancer-screening program for breast, cervical, and colon cancers. The data used belongs to the individuals who downloaded the app between August and December 2019 and filled out the questionnaire we prepared in the app. Results: The mobile application was downloaded 1050 times where, there were 539 registrations in the application, and the number of completes questionnaires is 344. There were 142 (26.3%) men and 397 (73.7%) women. The mean age was 33.3 ± 11.5. Health care workers and teachers found the application significantly more beneficial to promote cancer screening (p = 0.002). Ages and professions of the participants significantly associated with their opinions regarding the application completed their knowledge gaps and considering continue to use the application (p <0.0001, p = 0.02), (p = 0.04, p = 0.01). Prospects for recommending the application differed significantly with age, body mass index, and profession (p = 0.01, p = 0.02, p = 0.01) Conclusion: Awareness should be increased about cancer screening practices within the scope of primary prevention. Information and warnings should be carried out regularly to ensure that examinations and investigations are done on time. Applications should be developed under the leadership of the Ministry of Health and must be ensured to be reached to more people.

Objective: Cancer incidence rates have been increasing for both genders. The first aim was to determine the knowledge level of men about the types of cancers on adults. The second aim was to assess the level of knowledge of them on cancer screening programs. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at Karabük University in 2020, with 312 males who worked as academicians, administrative personnel and contractlabor. A questionnaire on sociodemographic characteristics and the knowledge of male employees about cancer and cancer screenings was applied to the participants by interviewing in the university. Results: The mean age of male participants was 40 years. Of the participants, 39.7% knew that lung cancer is the most common type of cancer among men while 80.4% knew that breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women. Of the participants, 42.9% heard of the Center of Early Detection and Screening of Cancer (CEDSC) and only 12.5% had a cancer screening test. The participants' answers to the question "Which cancer screening tests are made in CEDSC?" were breast cancer (55.8%), cervical cancer (35.6%), colorectal cancer (31.1%) and prostate cancer (26.0%). Mammography was the most well-known among screening tests (51.9%). The level of knowledge on colon, cervical and prostate cancer screening tests increased with age (p<0.05). Conclusions:The level of knowledge about cancer and cancer screenings of male participants was mostly moderate. It might be possible to increase the level of knowledge on cancer and cancer screening of men by preparing educative and informative programs.

Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the approaches of women between 30-65 years regarding having cervical cancer screening tests and to determine the obstacles against screening. Methods: In this study, a total of 313 participants aged 30-65 years who were registered to the Family Medicine Unit No:8 of Akyurt, Ankara province, were interviewed in June 2018. A questionnaire in which socio-demographic data was collected and participants' level of knowledge about cervical cancer screening was evaluated, is conducted. After determining the level of knowledge of the participants, standard information were given about cervical cancer screening. After informing, the participants were invited to the Family Health Center (FHC) for screening purposes and the reasons for rejection of those whore fused to take the screening were noted. All analyzes were performed using SPSS program. Results: There were 511 women in the 30-65 age range, registered to the unit. Questionnaire was not applied to 71 women who had previously been tested for HPV DNA in the system. The meanage of the 313 women eligible to participate in the survey was 44.8±10.2. The majority of the participants (66.1%) were primary school graduates. Of 313 participants, 64.2% knew that screening was performed at FHC. While 70.3% people agreed to have the screening, 29.7% denied. When there asons for denial were asked, it was learned that 52.6% were afraid of gynecological examination, 35.4% were already followed by gynecologists and obstetricians and did not want to perform the screening in a FHC and 11.8 found cervical cancer screening unnecessary. Conclusion: The rate of women who had cervical cancer screening before the study was found to be very low, and after the necessary information was given, the rate of those who wanted to have the test at FHC increased. In addition, we think that when Gynecology and Obstetrics Policlinics and Family Health Center work integratedly, cancer screening rates will rise.
