“…Naringin dihydrochalcone promoted neurogenesis in APP/PS1 Alzheimer disease mice ( Yang et al, 2018 ). Naringin has the potential for antidepressant therapy ( Aggarwal et al, 2010 ; Ben-Azu et al, 2018 ; Ben-Azu et al, 2019 ; Oladapo et al, 2021 ). Yet, the underlying mechanisms for adult hippocampal neurogenesis and antidepression remain unknown.…”

“…Closely followed by Rutaceae and Ranunculaceae, representative compounds include naringenin [38][39][40][41][42][43]45] and paeonol [117,118]. The composition of traditional Chinese medicine is complex.…”

“…Compared with other flavonoids, it is more easily to be absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract, with high bioavailability and high safety dose [37,38]. Mounting evidence shows that naringenin is a potential antidepressant [39][40][41][42][43][44]. On the one hand, it can increase the 5-HT level by inhibiting MAO [45] or regulating the metabolic process of tryptophan [39,41].…”

“…The measurements of pain threshold were performed using hot-plate and tail-immersion tests 30 min after Naringin administration. Doses and drug administration schedules were selected based on previous reports (Ben-Azu et al, 2018).…”
