Evaluation of the biological and wound healing activities of Centaurea virgata

Abstract: Objective: Plants have significant potential effects in treating wounds. Some plants are also used in traditional medicine for their wound healing properties. The aim of this study was to investigate the antioxidant and in vitro wound healing activities of Centaurea virgata. Methods: The antioxidant activities of extracts were examined by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid (ABTS) methods. The total phenolic content was determined using the Folin-Cioc… Show more

“…This fraction was also rich in phenolic compounds. 46 In a study, C. drabifolia subsp. drabifolia and C. lycopifolia extracts were observed in terms of the TPC (18.33–32.84 mg GAE /g extract ) and TFC content (2.88–22.39 mgRE/g extract ) and antioxidant activity.…”

“…There are study examples showing that A. hippocastanum seed extracts have anticancer effects and inhibit proliferation. As the cell proliferation phase progresses, fibroblasts become the predominant cells at the wound site and play an important role in wound contraction to restore the integrity of injured tissue (Aksoy, 2020). Especially, for the wound-healing phase, fibroblast concentration, proliferation and migration are very significant (Addis et al, 2020).…”
