Evaluation of the anesthetic effect of nasal mucosa with tetracaine 0.5% on hemodynamic changes and postoperative pain of septoplasty: A randomized controlled trial

Abstract: The nasal septum repair surgery is the dangerous operations that any stimulation of this area causes a large change in the rhythm of the heartbeat and blood pressure. This study aimed to determine the effects of tetracaine 0.5% on changes in heartbeat and heart rhythm, hemodynamic changes during surgery, intraoperative bleeding, and pain after septoplasty surgery. The irregular double-blind clinical trial registry of clinical trials Iran with the code number (IRCT: 20150526625N8) in the first half of 2013 on 8… Show more

“…Nasal pain after septoplasty and septorhinoplasty is expected acutely, and numerous studies have been conducted looking into the optimum analgesia to manage short-term pain [ 4 6 ]. However, the length of postoperative pain is usually a few days rather than months or years.…”

“…PEG has been shown to prevent particle interaction and increase their circulation time in blood, thus enhancing the probability of reaching the targeted tissue. PEG surface modification has been demonstrated for PLGA‐, [98] PDA‐, [185] gelatine‐, [186, 187] polyspermine‐, [141] and PLA‐based [188] DNA carriers.…”

“…The effect of tetracaine is fast-acting, long term, having low risk of methemoglobinemia, and strong compared to other local anesthetics. The mean dose is 0.1-0.2 mg/ kg, and the mean effect duration is 90-200 min 7 .…”
