Evaluation of Some Secondary Metabolites and Determination of the Antioxidant Potential of Different Extracts from the Plant of Pteridium aquilinum

Abstract: The present study aims to make an evaluation of some secondary metabolites and determination of the antioxidant potential of P. aquilinum plant extracts obtained by means of a simple and rapid TLC method. The latter revealed the presence of terpenes, sterols, steroids, flavonoids, polyphenols, saponins, sugars and amino acids. The evaluation of the potential antioxidant was assessed on phenolic and flavonoid compounds. These compounds' dosages revealed different levels, but the highest antioxidant activity was… Show more

“…Apart from the specified peaks, few other peaks were observed in both cases, which might be due to the phytochemicals or bioactive compounds prevailing in the Fbf and Bbf extracts that might have acted as both reducing and capping agents during biosynthesis of Fbf-AgNPs and Bbf-AgNPs [30][31][32][33]. Similar results on the XRD peaks of the biosynthesized silver nanoparticles are also presented in the previously published literature [20,29,34].…”
