Evaluation of Some Path Reduction Factor Models Performance i n Tropical Location

Abstract: Performance evaluation of the ITU-R. P.530-17, Ghiani and Budalal model are considered for this work. It is found that the predicted values from the ITU-R and Ghiani distance factor models are seen to gradually decrease with an increase in path length for distances below 1km. Results further suggest that for a link length of 300 m, the Ghiani model predicts a 0.2499 dB (1.059 w) to 0.3273 dB (1.078 w) precipitation loss across all four (4) stations. For the ITU-R. P.530-17 model, a 3.4741 dB (2.225 w) to 5.329… Show more

“…α and β are regression constants given as 12.2903 and 0.2973, respectively. The rain gauge trials for a ten (10) year period have been obtained from the Nigerian Metrological Agency (NiMet) archives and converted to one-minute integration times using the approach described in equation ( 2)…”

“…Northern Nigeria experiences less rain than Southern Nigeria. Rain types in Northern Nigeria are more stratiform than convective [10]. Due to the larger raindrop size in most equatorial regions, slant-path attenuation increases with a decrease in elevation angle.…”

“…The application of automated planning and modeling in wireless communications network design has risen in popularity, particularly in mobile telephony, namely global system for mobile communication (GSM) [1], [2] and universal mobile telecommunications service (UMTS) [3]- [6], but also in general broadband fixed wireless access (BFWA) [7], worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) [8], [9], and WLAN [9]- [16]. Although automated planning approaches, such as mathematical programming techniques [2], [11], are often used in constructing and designing individual networks, they also play an essential role in studying a wide range of economic and technological challenges.…”
