Evaluation of Short-Term Efficacy of Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy in Primary Fallopian Tube Carcinoma by Diffusion-Weighted Imaging: A Retrospective Study

Abstract: Background: This study aims to evaluate the short-term efficacy of concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) in primary fallopian tube carcinoma (PFTC) using magnetic resonance diffusion-weighted imaging (MR-DWI). Patients and Methods: Total abdominal irradiation was performed for 61 PFTC patients after surgery, and paclitaxel and carboplatin were used for CCRT. According to the response evaluation criteria in solid tumors (RECIST1.1), patients were divided into a sensitive (n = 36) and a resistant group (n = 25). P… Show more

“…7,17 No clinical symptoms or signs are typically observed in early-stage PFTC, which results in missed diagnoses, misdiagnosis, and a low diagnostic rate. 4,22,29 In the present study, most PFTC and EOC patients were postmenopausal with non-specific clinical manifestations, and the triad of pathognomonic symptoms occurred in a limited number of PFTC cases (3/21, 14%), which was not helpful in making a differential diagnosis, consistent with previous reports. 30 A predetermined PFTC diagnosis impacts the surgical plans and psychological state of patients, with MRI being the most important imaging tool for preoperative diagnosis.…”

“…Higher-grade tumors have lower ADC values because of high cellular density [ 19 ]. These results are not in line with other studies [ 6 , 20 , 21 ] but do agree with the other available reports on evaluations of the efficacy of chemotherapies by MRI [ 18 , 22 ]. Moreover, The b-value also affects values of ADC [ 21 ].…”
