Evaluation of self-regulated learning on problem-solving skills in online basic Physics learning during the COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract: The problems of learning physics have experienced increasingly complex obstacles amid the demands of online learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study is to explain the basic physics learning process through an online system during a pandemic, by evaluating the Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) approach to Problem-solving Skills (PSS). Data were collected through distributing questionnaires, interviews and documentation studies, then analyzed. This study shows that the applied SRL has been im… Show more

“…The ability to solve physical problems is one of the main missions in learning physics (Gök & Sýlay, 2010;Fernandez, 2017). Each student has different abilities in solving each problem, especially physics problems (Abtokhi et al, 2021). Physics learning should be taught by presenting everyday life problems so that students are better trained in increasing students' conceptual understanding, higher order thinking skills (Kwangmuang et al, 2021), scientific reasoning and problem solving.…”

“…A technique that teachers can do is to use innovative learning methods. Problem-solving learning can help students achieve higher-order thinking skills [18]. Students' problem-solving abilities also can be increased using relevant learning models and media [19].…”

“…Currently, the use of digital books as physics learning media has seen a rapid increase and is very much needed when online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic (Abtokhi, Jatmiko & Wasis, 2021;Kholiq, 2020;Saraswati, Mulyaningsih, Asih, Ardy & Dasmo, 2021). Digital books are electronic versions of printed books that can be read on a device with a specific purpose (Siegenthaler, Wurtz & Groner, 2010), in this case, to improve the quality of physics learning.…”
