“…Boiling inactivates the bacterial culture for serological testing and at the same time exposes the cryptic core LPS epitope (Tsang et al 1987). Todd and colleagues (Todd et al 1991) tested 566 strains of Salmonella with MAb M105, and only 1 strain of serogroup 0 Salmonella was found to give false negative result. Amongst the Salmonella strains giving positive reactions with M 105 were 139 strains of serogroup B, 241 strains of serogroup C, 23 strains of serogroup D, 95 strains of serogroup E, 16 strains of serogroup G, 7 strains of serogroup K, 3 strains of serogroup L, 3 strains of serogroup N, 1 strain of serogroup 0, 24 strains of serogroup R, 2 strains of serogroup Z, and 11 strains that were either rough or belonged to S. arizonae.…”
