Evaluation of patent activity in the information field

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of patent activity in the field of information and communication technologies. The study revealed that about 2 000 patents in the field of information and communication technologies are registered in Russia annually, which is approximately 0.4% of the global patents in this area. The researchers concluded that the indicated volume of patents does not allow ensuring an effective transition of industries and spheres of activity to innovative technologies, software products, information platforms, etc., which indicates the backwardness of this sphere of activity in Russia from the global trend and requires the development of directions for intensification of patent activity in Russia. At the end of the study, measures were proposed that would make it possible to intensify patenting activities both at the federal level and at the regional and corporate levels.
