Evaluation of Ointment Activity Based on Terminalia Mantaly Extract

Abstract: In Côte d'Ivoire pharmacopoeia the antifungal virtues of the bark of Terminalia mantaly are known. It bark is used to cure affections such as cutaneous candidiasis, gingivitis and diarrhoea. This work aims to compare the anticandidosic activities of the crude extract of T. mantaly and an ointment containing shea butter and the crude extract of T. mantaly. The anticandidosic activity of the crude Shea butter was also evaluated and kétoconazole was used as standards for antifungal assay.Shea butter, kétoconazole… Show more

“…Thereafter, the paste is applied to the tongue and inside the mouth of babies with stomatitis in Côte d'Ivoire (Sowemimoet al, 2012). Certainly, various studies conducted on the biological and phytochemical activities of Combretaceae have shown very good results (Soumahoro et al, 2016;Haïdara et al, 2022). Studies by Haïdara et al (2022) relating to the identification of chemical constituents and their antiradical activities of three Combretaceae revealed the richness of this botanical family in phytocompounds such as polyphenols, flavonoids, tannins, and compounds with triterpene genins such as saponosides which can justify biological activities.…”

“…The active ingredients of T. ivorensis could substitute the classical molecules and cure the cases of resistant candidiasis. Previous works have shown that Terminalia are generally endowed with antifungal powers 17,18 and T. ivorensis is particularly very active, notably on Aspergillus fumigatus6 and Candida albicans. Therefore, this plant can be used in the composition of a biopesticide and a medical cream for its antifungal activity19,20 .…”
