The aim of this research was to analyze the trend of publication within Montenegrin journals, as well as the scientific research activities of Montenegrin researchers in the field of sports science. The investigation subject included the scientific papers published in the period from 2002 until 2020, within the field of sports science. The electronic databases (Google Scholar, Scopus and Web of Science) were searched for research articles available until 22nd September 2020. The findings of this study were summarized in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines, presenting the values of citations, h-index, i10-index, as well as the number of scientific papers of the best authors. The results of this study indicated that researchers in the field of sports science increased the number of publications from 2002 to 2020. The number of citations span from 502 and 10677 within ten most cited researchers in Google Scholar database, while the same researchers were cited quite less in Scopus and Web of Science databases. On the other hand, in Google Scholar database, there are three registered Montenegrin journals and the Sport Mont journal is the most cited one. The Montenegrin Journal of Sports Science and Medicine is the best ranked Montenegrin journal according to the bibliometric data that can be found in the Scopus and Web of Science databases, while the Journal of Anthropology of Sport and Physical Education is the lowest ranked in Scopus and Web of Science databases, but middle ranked in Google Scholar database, and with significant progress in the last year. Hence, the further deployment is expected in upcoming period.

COVID-19 causes cardiovascular and lung problems that can be aggravated by confinement, but the practice of physical activity (PA) could lessen these effects. The objective of this study was to evaluate the association of maximum oxygen consumption (V˙O2max) with vaccination and PCR tests in apparently healthy Chilean adults. An observational and cross-sectional study was performed, in which 557 people from south-central Chile participated, who answered an online questionnaire on the control of COVID-19, demographic data, lifestyles, and diagnosis of non-communicable diseases. V˙O2max was estimated with an abbreviated method. With respect to the unvaccinated, those who received the first (OR:0.52 [CI:0.29;0.95], p = 0.019) and second vaccine (OR:0.33 [CI:0.18;0.59], p = 0.0001) were less likely to have an increased V˙O2max. The first vaccine was inversely associated with V˙O2max (mL/kg/min) (β:−1.68 [CI:−3.06; −0.3], p = 0.017), adjusted for BMI (β:−1.37 [CI:−2.71; −0.03], p = 0.044) and by demographic variables (β:−1.82 [CI:−3.18; −0.46], p = 0.009); similarly occur for the second vaccine (β: between −2.54 and −3.44, p < 0.001) on models with and without adjustment. Having taken a PCR test was not significantly associated with V˙O2max (mL/kg/min). It is concluded that vaccination significantly decreased V˙O2max, although it did not indicate cause and effect. There is little evidence of this interaction, although the results suggest an association, since V˙ O2max could prevent and attenuate the contagion symptoms and effects.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between low back pain (LBP) and factors such as education level and years of work in 131 women aged 42±1.10 years, participating in the "Sports for All" municipal physical activity (PA) programs in Greece. To evaluate how PA affects the intensity of pain, the questionnaires “Grading the Severity of Chronic Pain-GSCP” and the “A Fear-Avoidance Beliefs Questionnaire-FABQ” were used. Analysis of Variation and the Tuckey post hoc tests calculated the difference among the questions of each of the questionnaires. Statistically significant differences were determined for three questions. Female participants with a medium or low level of education show less or no improvement in LBP. Concerning years of work, participants with fewer years of work suffer from higher LBP levels than the ones already working for longer time. Future studies of the relationship between specific PA programs, the content and nature of one’s job and the appearance of LBP are needed.
