Evaluation of Compressive Geophysical Prospecting Method for the Identification of the Abandoned Goaf at the Tengzhou Section of China’s Mu Shi Expressway

Abstract: Subsidence deformation of abandoned goafs can induce cracking, distortion and even collapse of surface buildings (structures), and thus, subsidence deformation poses a great threat. Accurate detection of the abandoned goaf location and overburden morphology is an important prerequisite for stability evaluation and scientific management of surface buildings (structures), and effective detection methods are bottlenecks for accurate detection. Taking the abandoned goaf in the Tengzhou section of China’s Mu Shi ex… Show more

“…To evaluate the stability of surface structures, accurate detection approaches for deserted goafs are indispensable. A combination of incremental, conventional, and seismic methodologies was employed to locate an abandoned goaf on China’s Mu Shi expressway [ 10 ]. Han et al analyzed the excavation stability and reinforcement measures of a cutting slope with a collapsed goaf roadway and mining face, finding that the collapsed mining face was the main factor affecting stability and proposing specific slope ratios for excavation as well as reinforcing methods [ 3 ].…”

“…They concluded structural parameter of the mining stope is justifiable, faults would induce subsidence (Zhang et al, 2019). Accurate detection methods for abandoned goafs are necessary to assess the building stability, a combination of step-by-step, traditional, and seismic methods were used to identify a desolate goaf within the Mu Shi expressway of China (Zhang et al, 2022). Han et al conducted an analysis of the stability and methods for excavating and reinforcing for a side slope of cut with goaf roadway of falling in.…”
