Evaluation of compressive and split tensile strength of slag based aluminosilicate geopolymer reinforced by waste polymeric materials using Taguchi method

Abstract: In this work, slag based aluminosilicate geopolymer was reinforced with polymeric fibers including, polyester (PES) (waste tire cap plies), polymeric particles including polyethylene terephthalate (PET) (waste water bottle), styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) (waste tire), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) (waste water hose). The tensile and compressive strength of the material was evaluated. Taguchi method was employed to assess the influence of the effective parameters on the mechanical characteristics of the geopoly… Show more

“…Table 4 shows the values of all the simulation results based on all the input design variables. The same data were further used in the scatter diagram, as shown in Figure 13, to represent the results [43][44][45][46][47]. A graphical representation of all simulation results is shown in Figure 14.…”

“…56,77 A lower wavenumber as a result of the formation of the strong Si-O-Al bonds implies the strengthening of this bond, leading to higher mechanical strength in early ages. 75 TM3 mixture enjoyed a higher amount of alkaline solution, lower amount of binder, and lower amount of extra water (i.e., free form of water) than the TM5 mixture, which could be the major reason for the formation of Al-rich geopolymer gel, shifting Si-O-T bond to lower wavenumbers and, finally, higher STS.…”
