Evaluation of bond strength of resin cements using different general-purpose statistical software packages for two-parameter Weibull statistics

Abstract: OBJECTIVES: This study evaluated and compared Weibull parameters of resin bond strength values using six different general-purpose statistical software packages for two-parameter Weibull distribution. METHODS: Two-hundred human teeth were randomly divided into 4 groups (n=50), prepared and bonded on dentin according to the manufacturers' instructions using the following resin cements: (i) Variolink (VAN, conventional resin cement), (ii) Panavia21 (PAN, conventional resin cement), (iii) RelyX Unicem (RXU, self-… Show more

“…SPSS Version 20.0 (SPSS INC, Chicago, IL, USA) was used for the normal distribution. The Weibull distribution was performed using MINITAB Version 14.0 (MINITAB, State College, PA, USA) 19) . The results of the statistical analysis with p-values smaller than 0.05 were considered to be statistically significant.…”

“…Two-parameter Weibull statistics were estimated by Maximum Likelihood and their 95% CI were computed. Tests for the equality of the Weibull modulus and the equality of the characteristic fracture load were conducted together with the appropriate Bartletts modified post-hoc test 24) . Relative frequencies of failure types together with the corresponding 95% CI estimated according to the Ciba Geigy tables 25) , were provided.…”
