Evaluation of a Short‐term Training Program in Bedside Emergency Ultrasound in Southwestern Tanzania

Abstract: Registrar physicians in Tanzania can effectively learn basic emergency ultrasound skills in a short-term training program. Similar future programs may consider heavier emphasis on practical hands-on training with experts. Ongoing data collection is required to understand the true impact of such training on long-term ultrasound use and patient outcomes.

“…This contributes to a lack of formal emergency care training in regions like Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), where 3% of the world's healthcare workers (HCWs) confronts 24% of the world's disease burden [3] . Short courses have emerged as a high-impact intervention to bolster emergency-specific skills and knowledge among HCWs in LMICs where formal, long-term training options will not fill the training gap in the next decade [4] , [5] , [6] .…”
