G Ge er re eç ç v ve e Y Yö ön nt te em ml le er r: : Ocak 2013-Nisan 2013 tarihleri arasında Afyon Kocatepe Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göz Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı'nda katarakt tanısı ile ameliyat edilmiş hastaların dosyaları geriye dönük incelendi. Optik biyometri ölçümünde AL-Scan cihazı kullanılmış ve aynı cerrah tarafın-dan sorunsuz katarakt ameliyatı uygulanmış 34 hastanın 34 gözü çalışmaya dâhil edildi. Hastaların göz ve sistemik bulguları, elde edilen AU, K1, K2 keratometri, ÖKD, emetropi için önerilen göz içi lens gücü ölçümleri ile birinci ay refraksiyon kusurundan sapma değerleri kaydedildi. p<0,05 istatistiksel olarak anlamlı kabul edildi. B Bu ul lg gu ul la ar r: : Hastaların yaş ortalaması 64,73±12,4 yıl (42-81) idi. Cihazdan elde edilen ortalama AU 23,45±0,87 mm, ortalama K1 keratometri 44,02±1,23 diyoptri, ortalama K2 değeri 43,92±1,22 diyoptri ve ortalama ÖKD 3,32±0,4 mm olarak saptandı. Elde edilen hedef refraksiyondan sapma sferik eşdeğeri birinci ayda -0,75-+1,12 diyoptri arasında değişmekte idi ve ortalama -0,06±0,43 diyoptri olarak hesaplandı. Regresyon analizinde hedef refraksiyondan sapma değerleri ile yaş, AU, K1 keratometri, K2 keratometri ve ÖKD parametreleri arasında ilişki gösterilemedi (p>0,05). Differences between IOL designs and biometry methods are sources of systematic error and can displace the average prediction error away from 0.0D. These require an adjustment of the IOL constant to reset the mean prediction error to 0.0D0.0D, so that the IOL formula can perform at its best. This review discusses the reasons why IOL constants may differ based on IOL characteristics and biometry method, as well as causes of erroneous estimation of IOL constants that should be taken into account. The chapter also describes various methodologies for optimizing IOL constants, from simple empirical methods to the conventional optimization approach by iteration using computerized spreadsheets. The code to perform these calculations is provided. The chapter ends by discussing the IOL power formulae with more than one constant and how these can be optimized.

Abstract: The repeatability and reproducibility of AL-Scan was excellent for all parameters, except WTW and PD. Excluding WTW, good agreement was found between the AL-Scan and IOLMaster. The 2.4-mm diameter K value may be the most reliable choice for calculation of IOL power with the AL-Scan.
