Evaluating Psychometric Properties of the Spanish-version of the Pediatric Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Perceived Cognitive Function (pedsFACIT-PCF)

Abstract: Purpose The pediatric Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Perceived Cognitive Function (pedsFACIT-PCF) is a 13-item short-form derived from the pediatric Perceived Cognitive Function item bank (pedsPCF), which was developed to measure children’s daily cognitive behaviors and was validated on the US general population and children with cancer. This study evaluated the psychometric properties of Spanish language pedsFACIT-PCF and the measurement equivalence between Spanish and English versions. Me… Show more

“…Another difference from previous findings is the scant statistical support for the three subdomains "memory retrieval," "attention/concentration," and "working memory" as described by . Although these domains were used in the first publications on the PedsPCF , they were not mentioned in more recent publications on the PedsPCF (Cella et al, 2016;Lai et al, 2017;Lai, Zelko, et al, 2014;Wong et al, 2015). Thus, our findings appear to be in line with the current application of the PedsPCF.…”

“…When computer-based assessment is not possible or feasible, short forms can be used, presenting a selection of items from the item bank. Previous (English and Spanish) short forms of the PedsPCF contained items that were most frequently selected based on CAT simulations (Lai et al, 2017;Lai, Wagner, et al, 2014;Wong et al, 2015). Since we deemed it important for the Dutch short form to cover all cognitive functions that are tapped by the PedsPCF item bank, we carefully selected items for the Dutch short form.…”
